Gameplay and story
- A guerrilla revolution: As dictator Antón Castillo (played by actor Giancarlo Esposito) and his son Diego impose a brutal regime, you play as a local named Dani Rojas, joining a revolution to liberate the country.
- Largest open world: Yara is the most expansive map in the series to date, including the first-ever urban city in a Far Cry game.
- "Resolver" weapons: You can use a vast array of makeshift, guerrilla-style weapons. These include "Supremo" backpacks with unique abilities, like launching a barrage of missiles.
- Amigos: Animal companions, such as Chorizo the wheelchair-bound dachshund and Guapo the alligator, can help in combat.
- Co-op gameplay: You can play the entire campaign in co-op with a friend.
Xbox Series X enhancements
When played on an Xbox Series X, the game benefits from significant upgrades over the Xbox One version.
- Dynamic 4K resolution at 60fps: This provides a much sharper image and smoother, more fluid gameplay.
- HD texture pack: A high-definition texture pack is available for download, which improves the visual quality of many in-game surfaces.
- Reduced loading times: The game takes advantage of the Series X's SSD, resulting in significantly faster loading screens.
- Better graphics: There are overall graphical improvements, such as better draw distances and higher-quality shadows.
Xbox One performance
On the base Xbox One, the game runs at a lower resolution (around 1400x900) at 30 frames per second. While still a perfectly playable experience, it lacks the graphical crispness and smooth performance of the optimized Series X version.
